Ooooo...we're halfway there...

And yes, we are livin' on a prayer. Thank you, Jon Bon Jovi, for an epic song but also for being hot. (sorry, had to be said).

via Google - I realize this is more "present day" than when he had the big '80s hair...
but come on - so much hotter now!

And in case you forgot how awesome the video is, here you go:

You're welcome.

So why the random Bon Jovi reference, you ask? Although there is always room for a random Bon Jovi reference, the reason is I realized today as I looked at my handy dandy training widget on my blog that I am exactly half way to my Ironman.

I signed up and there were 364 days until the race.

Now there are 187 days.

Half way, people. Half. Way.

And for some reason, that is freaking me out. Big time.

My "race season" officially starts on Saturday with a 15k running race downtown Seattle, followed 2 weeks later by my first sprint triathlon of the year. Why is it that even after 187 days of essentially non-stop training, I am feeling unprepared and nervous already?

Hoping that my training for the next 187 days is good to me and that I can continue to prepare, get stronger and become an Ironman!

We'll make it I swear!

Questions:
1) Do you freak out for no reason when thinking about your race schedule?
2) What is your favorite Bon Jovi song?
3) Anything fun to share?

  1. LOVE the bon jovi reference and the new header!

I freak out all the time. I don't need to look at my race schedule to do it.

Took Keira to her first roller skating party. There was no Bon Jovi there. There should have been. It was still pretty epic, though.

  2. You've totally got this! I know that you're a little terrified, but all this training leads up to an incredibly amazing race day.

I love the new header! The old one was good too, but this one is sweet!

  3. i love the new header pic, so cute! I know you're going to do so well with the second half of training and I'm excited for your 15k race for you. You know I freak out about every little thing involved in races. Fav bon jovi song - you give love a bad name. Nothing super exciting to share on my end. Just busy!

  4. Bon Jovi equals crucial to many of my childhood memories.

I would be freaking out about the Ironman too. Even if it were five years away!

  5. I agree with Megan- I love your new header picture. What a great race to run with your daughter. I love meeting the 1/2 point of any training schedule. There is something fulfilling about reaching it.

  6. You'll be great! As I've told you before, it's actually comforting and inspirational to know that even rock stars like you still get nervous. You are human and it's normal to have some self-doubt. What separates you from the rest of the pack is that you don't let it stop you from your goals.

  8. I must admit I knew all his songs back in the 80's! He did rock, and still does!
I have my first Half Ironman race in BArcelona in 11 days and yes, I AM FREAKING OUT! But I assume all the other triathletes on the starting line are feeling the same so that helps me cope with it.
Keep up the training and the miles, and good luck with your first race.
