Ironman Training: Week 15 Recap and TTT

Happy Friday eve to you all - Hope the week has treated you well thus far!

15 weeks of training complete so far. And as I noted the other day, why the hell am I still so nervous about my sprint tri in 2 weeks?! Although I'm probably in better shape and more prepared now than I was most of last year, I still get that odd feeling that I'm not going to do well. Need to shake that, pronto pupsters. (yes, I probably did make that phrase up and yes, it's an odd one. But you get what I mean by it, no?)

When I Googled "pronto pupsters", this is the first image that popped up. Ha!

Anyway, here is the recap of last week:
  • Ran: 22 miles
  • Biked: 88 miles
  • Swam: 4.2 miles
  • Total distance: about 112 miles
  • Total time: about 10 hours
Last week was also my first with 3 days of swimming again - it's been a while! The good thing is I'm getting stronger again with my swims, thanks to trying to keep up with some wicked fast people here - former collegiate swimmers, triathletes, etc. They make me want to go faster too! Oh and I think it's because of my sweet new $10 goggles I had to buy when mine snapped yesterday. They make me fast. I tried to take a picture of me with the goggles, but I am too embarassed to post it so you get this instead:

My TTT:

1) Transition - I am working on my transition plan for my new job and my old job. So far I have a 10+ page document to turn over with details about all the projects I've been working on. No wonder I am so stressed! And busy filling out new hire paperwork too - spending a lot of time at Kinko's! Also working on the transition for the new rental house - getting electric, cable, internet, etc all set up for when we move there in 2 weeks. And as Matt put it, I'm prepping for my T1 and T2 at my tris! Well played, friend. Well played.
via Google - any excuse to use Ziggy! Whatever happened to him?!

2) Thoughts - I have several friends who are going through a lot right now and it's tough to be so far away and not able to help them in person. But you know who you are and please know I'm sending healing thoughts and hugs to you!

3) Treats - I seriously can not stop these cravings for candy, ice cream, cookies, etc. It's ridiculous! I got the biggest Rice Krispie treat yesterday and am tempted to go buy the ingredients just to make myself a batch. But I know that I woudl eat the whole pan in 1 sitting. Ironman training for me apparently equates to the need for sugar! (bad, I know)
via Google - get in ma bell-aye!

Have a great rest of your day!

1) How has your week been?
2) Do you crave crazy stuff while training?
3) Fun weekend plans?

  2. Great mileage this week! So, are you swimming in the lake or the pool? And, if you are swimming in the lake, do you wear a wetsuit? I need to pick your brain:)

  3. What a big week - and I'd say craving treats is normal and totally fine with your training! Doing training in multiple areas is always more exhausting for me than just running / cycling / etc.

  4. 1 - My week has been craptastic. It is what it is.
2 - I just want carbs when I train. Mostly bagels, but almost any bread will do.
3- Going to see The Avengers again on Saturday, possibly starting our new patio, and then a blogger meet up after PDX RNR.

    Have a fabulous Friday!

  5. 1. This week has been interesting. Had to call paramedics for Susie on Mother's day, then she came down with strep on Wednesday and gave it to me. Still haven managed to get in all the training though.
    2. I crave nuts when I'm training. That and peanut butter. And beer.
    3. YES! We are going to Shepherdstown WV for the Casa River Century. I'm doing the full with a couple of friends and my husband is taking the kids in the bike trailer for the quarter. I love centuries if they have good food. I hope they have good food. Very much looking forward to a little getaway, night in a hotel etc.
    4. What training plan are you following? Your IM is after mine but you seem to have more mileage...

  6. I always like it when I get on your blog! :)

Nice work on all the training! I'm sorry your goggles snapped. That sucks, but it's always fun getting new stuff, so this gives you an excuse.

My dad has a crazy ice cream sweet tooth. Over the last 2 weeks of living with him, he has bought 8 or 9 half gallons! And they are the good stuff with candy in them! YIKES!
