Four more days...

Wow did today just fly by! I was on the go all day but it was so nice out that I felt like I had more energy...which is always a bonus!

I actually spent the majority of my day working - staring at a lot of numbers and spreadsheets - but working nonetheless! I took a brain break around 11am to take Julia for a run since it was a beautiful day outside - 65 to 70 degrees which we haven't seen in months. It was super windy but I didn't care!
Here's a picture of the shirt I got at the race on Sunday - love the wicking sleeveless shirts!
The shirt says "Born to TRI" - cute huh?

We did our neighborhood run which is 4.1 miles - finished in 32:49, so just about 8:00 pace. I'll take it considering it felt like we were running into the wind the entire time! Here's the "After" picture with my girl:

4 more days until Steelhead...which means only 2 or 3 more days of training! That is a good feeling actually. Tomorrow I'll probably bike, but may run depending on when Julia wakes up. Friday I may swim and then I'm done!

We're heading out Saturday morning to St. Joe - staying with Rob's best friend's parents. They're such wonderful people and we're looking forward to seeing them! I'll go to the Expo Saturday to get my race materials and drop off my bike. I'm planning on getting some Ironman gear when I'm there too! Is that cheesy??

I hope the swim goes off without a hitch - the waves/rip currents have been pretty intense in the past week which is a bit concerning. I found out late yesterday about the 2 people who unfortunately lost their lives in the NYC Triathlon this past Sunday - my condolences to their families. It is scary to think, though, that this could happen at any race, anytime. I'm thankful that swimming is my strength and hopefully will be ok for me Sunday too.

I hope to get some decent sleep the next 2 nights because I know I won't sleep at ALL on Saturday!

So let the preparations begin - hard to believe it's almost here!

Oh and they posted pictures from my tri on Sunday - here is one from the finish:

And we got Julia's 2 year photos back today from the amazing Nancy at Smooch Photography (www.sealedwithasmooch.com) - here are two of my favorites! If you need a photographer and live in Chicago or Michigan, I highly recommend Nancy - she is wonderful!

my friends think this looks like Alice in Wonderland!

Have a good rest of your night!

Questions:
1) How was your Wednesday?
2) What is your favorite part about getting ready for a race?
3) How to you calm your nerves before a race?

  1. that race shirt is super cute! And I love the family pic and Julia's "alice in wonderland" pic :)

    1. Weds - good besides going back to work (thanks again for picking us up from the airport!)
    2. fav part of getting ready for a race - the excitement of everything, especially if I'm doing it with someone
    3. Calming nerves before race...mm, I'm not great at that but I try to just do something that takes my mind off it.

You're so ready, I'm excited for you!

  2. So I swam at the race site this afternoon in 2-3 foot waves. The water temp was perfect at 75, but it was pretty tough to go in a straight line. We had a TERRIBLE rip current yesterday, and the beaches were closed. Hopefully it'll settle down before Sunday. It's looking like 30% chance of rain in the morning on Sunday, so hopefully the 70% will prevail!!! Have a safe trip this direction.

  3. You just will have nerves, but it is all about how you handle them. I organize my things a million times!
