It seems like this week has been about 2 weeks long - not sure why but had a tough few days in there, especially yesterday. Luckily I feel a bit better today but still not 100% myself. Ho-hum. Guess there will be days like these sometimes...will do my best to just get through it!
After the internet debacle yesterday (which Rob fixed for me - turns out the router and modem cables weren't connected right - oy), and feeling generally crappy, I needed to do something to try and improve my mood. So I took Julia out in the stroller and did a slow recovery run/walk after the rain cleared. My legs were screaming at me (didn't think I was that sore after my triathlon!) so we took it really slowly. But it was good to be outside and Julia enjoys being on the move too. After that, we went to get Chinese food (massive craving) and visit the kitties and fish at the pet store down the street. It was all I could do to get Julia out of the store without buying a cat! (Note: I probably would have if Rob wasn't so deathly allergic to cats!) I think my entire house was out cold before 9:45pm - yes, I will fully admit I'm old!
Today I babysat my neighbors' 17-month old, Elizabeth all morning. Once Julia woke up, the girls were a riot playing together - I really enjoyed watching it. They imitated each other, chased each other around and then spent time chasing after Maverick (our 6-year-old lop rabbit! A story for another day...). I'm honestly not sure how moms with 2 or more kids close in age do it! Kudos to all of you! I was exhausted after playing referee with toys (of course, Julia wanted the ONE toy Liz was playing with), making sure no one went up the stairs or got into anything they shouldn't. I didn't sit down the entire time...but it was fun. And Liz's mom Ann so kindly brought me my favorite, Jimmy John's, for lunch as a thank you- love it.
I opted to take Julia out for another run before we had lunch - went about 3.2 miles in just over 24 minutes. It was hot and she was heavy to push on the dirt road by our house. Once Julia went for a nap, I mowed the lawn and weeded...that counts as additional exercise, right!? We have a big yard - honestly we do!
Here is Julia checking out the flowers - she kept trying to pick some and hand them to me as a gift. She's so sweet, but I'd like to keep the flowers IN the ground, sweetpea!
So now I'm finally relaxing while Julia finishes her nap and looking forward to an impromtu girls' night out with my sister-in-law Janene. Rob has Julia duties tonight while we head out for dinner and a movie - looking forward to it!
No huge plans this weekend, except hanging out with the 2 dads in my life - my amazing dad Ron and of course, Rob!
Anyone have any fun, exciting plans this weekend? HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all of the dads in your life!!
Here is a cute quote I've always loved (author unknown):
Dad, you're someone to look up to no matter how tall I've grown.
Have a great weekend and thanks again for reading!
